The acclaimed auteur Spike Lee recently released his first Netflix feature film, Da 5 Bloods. But is it his best film or are his others better? The acclaimed auteur Spike Lee recently released his first Netflix feature film, Da 5 Bloods. The film tells the story of four black Vietnam veterans who reunite on a trip back to the jungle to find the remains of a former comrade as well as a case of gold they hid during the war?

In a summer when new movies are scarce, Da 5 Bloods has been hailed as a vibrant, thought-provoking, and entertaining piece of work from a great filmmaker. While some are already praising this as perhaps Lee’s best work, the film has a lot of competition with the other amazing films in his filmography.

Lee’s films are often known for delivering powerful and timely messages, but he also manages to tell entertaining stories at the same time. Da 5 Bloods feels like one of the more mainstream movies Lee has made as the adventure story at its center is a lot of fun.

The film is clearly inspired by classic treasure hunting films like The Treasure of the Sierra Madre. It tells this thrilling genre story very effectively while still exploring deeper topics.

Another mainstream movie that stands out in Lee’s filmography is the excellent heist movie Inside Man. The film stars Lee’s frequent leading man Denzel Washington as a New York City cop who finds himself negotiating with armed thieves who have taken hostages at a bank.
