Valdosta High School Band Class of 2020 Earns Music Scholarships

Standardized test scores and athletics are not the only ways students can be awarded scholarships. Band members from the Valdosta High School Marching Cats Class of 2020 have taken their passion for music and turned it into an educational opportunity by garnering over $500,000.00 in music and academic scholarships.

Eight members of the class of 2020 from VHS plan to participate in collegiate band programs this fall and five of them alone have garnered over $500,000.00 in scholarships.  For band members to qualify for scholarships they literally have to be dual threat students that meet high academic and musical standards.  They must meet and in many instances exceed regular academic requirements for the colleges they plan to attend and they also have to audition for competitive music scholarships.

The Valdosta High School Band congratulates the following students from the Class of 2020 that will participate in collegiate bands this fall:

Bobby Arnold – Bethune Cookman University

Amelia Barnett – Kennesaw State University

Callie Belflower – Valdosta State University

Siobahan Berrian – Bethune-Cookman University

Braddock Grimsley – Troy State University

Cara Sellars – Valdosta State University

Braden Howard – Troy State University

Cierra Williams – Oglethorpe University
